CONDITION AND VALUE SURVEY.

This is most often the survey you will be giving to your insurance. The insurance company’s look at these to obtain value and to see if the vessel appears to be operational and an acceptable risk to insure. 

PRE PURCHASE SURVEY

This survey is more in depth then  C&D survey. It helps potential buyers to be aware of impending maintenance requirements or apparent vessel needs. These surveys help potential buyers go into a purchase with a better understanding of potential near future costs associated with purchase of the vessel.

DAMAGE SURVEY

After a casualty such as fire, flooding, collision, grounding, or other catastrophic failure a damage survey is required.

A damage survey reveals the scope of damage from the casualty and estimated repair costs associated with it.

ON/OFF HIRE SURVEYS

This survey is conducted before and after a vessel is put on contract. This survey is used to determine whether a vessel is in its stated condition and suitable for use by the charter. It often will include information on the quantity of bunker fuels and lube on board. Condition of deck and equipment in order to be able to restore vessel to on hire condition upon end of charter.

UNDERWAY SURVEYS

The surveyor will ride the vessel and observe vessel operations

ULTRASOUND SURVEY.

This is a grid hull thickness survey used to evaluate hull degradation and Identify areas of concern for repair. Insurance company periodically require them for insurance
